UNRELENTING JOY

Another Update

February 19, 2008

Well I think it’s time for another update about what’s happening in my little life. I apologize in advance because there’s too much going on lately for this to be short.

As mentioned previously, I’m moving to a new apartment in April. A couple of weeks ago me and my new roomie found a place we both liked and have finally crossed all the I’s and dotted all the T’s and are set to move in.  My current lease isn’t up until April 1, but we went ahead and took a March 1st move in date so we can move in at our leisure and not have to do it all in one crazy day. It will also help knowing the space we’re dealing with more than a month in advance when buying furniture and things. It’s going to be really hectic the next month or so while I’m packing and everything, but come May it will all be worth it because this place is both cheaper and considerably closer to the train.

In other news, I had some friends in town this past weekend which was a blast. You all know how much I love showing off this city. This time around, however, it was a couple of friends who have both been here before so we didn’t have to do any of the tourist traps or surface level stuff in the city. We just hung out, went to a few nice places to eat and met up with some mutual friends. One thing we did worth mentioning was the Bodies exhibit down at the South Street Seaport. It’s hard to explain my reaction to the exhibit here except to say it was very intellectually stimulating and I have even more appreciation for God’s handiwork. I’ll save my thoughts on divine plan vs. evolution and atheism vs. monotheism for another time, but I’d love to talk to someone someday about how the Bodies exhibit could be used in all 4 arguments. Anyway, it was a nice long weekend and I’m glad I got to spend it with two very good friends.

And I’ve finally found a church I feel like I’m clicking with and have joined another life group. You may recall my last experience was less than fulfilling, but I went to our first meeting with this new group last night and feel much better this time around. No ridiculous contracts to sign and a much more satisfactory meeting place. Not to mention the people here seem much more genuine and not just a group of people “doing church.” I’m very excited about the Christian friendships and connections that can come from this and look forward to learning more about the nature God along the way.  We’ll be studying The Great Divorce by C.S. Lewis if anyone has any input about that.

I suppose that’s a decent update. As usual I have a million things on my mind I can’t quite get into words, but I’m drafting several blogs that I hope will inspire some feedback from everyone.  I’ll see if I can get them posted before I’m 30.

Hope everyone’s doing great. God Bless!
